Legal Status and Mandate

Non-Profit Entity:

Corruption Watch Sierra Leone an official Transparency International chapter is registered as a non-profit Organization (NPO). This structure dictates its operational framework and ensures it has no political or business alignment, allowing it to act in the public interest.

Operating within the Rule of Law:

As an organization committed to promoting transparency and accountability, it operates within the existing legal frameworks and the Constitution Sierra Leone. Its work aims to ensure compliance with laws like the Public Finance Management Act, the Anti-Corruption Act, and procurement laws.

Strategic Litigation:

The organization engages in strategic litigation and legal advocacy to challenge decisions and enforce constitutional principles, often acting as an ambassador of Chang in significant public offices.

Corruption Watch Sierra Leone Core Thematic Areas (5 Comprehensive Pillars).

1. ANTI-CORRUPTION, TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY.

Community sensitization on corruption, citizens' rights and reporting mechanisms. Monitoring public projects in health, education, water, and roads for value for money. Promoting due process and integrity in MDAs, Local Councils, and Traditional Authorities. Providing safe channels for citizen reporting and whistleblower support to ACC, Police, and other authorities.

2. CHILD PROTECTION & EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT.

Advocacy and welfare support for less privileged children in communities. Providing learning materials, promoting access to quality education, and supporting vulnerable children and PWDs to stay in school.

3. DISABILITY FIGHTS & SOCIAL INCLUSION

Promoting inclusion, access to services, and protection of rights for Persons With Disabilities. Advocating against discrimination and for participation of PWDs, women, and youth in governance and community decision-making.

4. YOUTH & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT FOR GOVERNANCE.

Building capacity of youth and women groups for active participation in accountability, leadership, and community development.

5. PARTNERSHIPS & INSTITUTIONAL COLLABORATION.

Working with ACC, Government, CSOs, PWD Groups, Traditional Authorities, and International Partners to strengthen anti-corruption and social accountability efforts.
